The Universe, Angels, and Me

Sometimes the universe sends you signs.

I've had two recently.

Yesterday's made me laugh.

In Risking Ruin Trip gives Marisa the nickname Runner Girl. After a day of slogging through my day job, the car parked next to mine in the deck had this sticker!

I laughed aloud.  A great big belly laugh.  I need to write more.

My third book is going slowly, which brings me to the second sign.

My little boy was born in Janaury.

He's as sweet as pie and growing like a weed.  And prevented me from writing for three months.  No complaints.

My heart has never been so full of love.

A few weeks ago, I had the clearest dream.

Of my mother-in-law, who died a little over 9 years ago.

In fact, I don't think it was a dream.

She came into my bedroom, looking how she did in pictures when my husband was a child -- her wavy carrot colored hair and slightly bohemian outfits.

She looked at my children, who were in bed with me.  The newest was nursing.  And she told me how happy she was.  How happy she was for the children and how happy she was for my husband, her only child.

Was it real?

It was absolutely real to me.

And I pray that she continues to be pleased and happy and that one day, long in the future, she'll get to hold her grandbabies.

I also know that she'd get a huge kick out of my writing steamy romances.  It would embarrass my husband immensely, but she and I adored making him squirm.  So off to writing my books that embarass my husband!  The universe has decreed it be so.

Book birthday! My one year adventure in publishing (and giveaway)!

A year ago today, Risking Ruin was let out into the world.

I had no clue what to expect.

My hopes were simple -- That someone would enjoy the story I'd written. That one book blogger would think it warranted three stars. That I didn't get hate mail. That maybe a few people would buy it.

I'm simply amazed. Though it's never topped a list on Amazon and isn't a worldwide sensation, I've

  • sold hundreds of copies
  • gotten some amazing feedback (4.4 avg review on Amazon)
  • met some amazing bloggers, readers, and fellow authors
  • made an appearance at #59 on Amazon's erotic mystery Top 100.

I'm so thankful for all of the support. From strangers, friends, and the virtual friends I've made through this process. Your support gave me the courage to keep writing. Thank you.

I sit here today with not just one published book to my name, but two, and a manuscript for my third.

Yes, I still have my day job.
No, I haven't broken even.
Yes, I am incredibly thankful.

On my Facebook page, I'm giving away not only a signed paperback copy of Risking Ruin, but two e-copies of Risking Ruin and a $5 Amazon gift card and hope you'll spend it exploring a few amazing indie authors who have supported me through this journey through their generous offering of ideas and critiques.
